“The unity of the two Testaments proceeds from the unity of God’s plan and his Revelation. The Old Testament prepares for the New and the New Testament fulfills the Old; the two shed light on each other; both are true Word of God.” CCC 140

Our participants inquiring about becoming Catholic are studying the Bible this weekend. They will learn about salvation history, the structure and the nature of the Bible. They will learn to describe Scripture as the sacred and inspired word of God. They will also learn to consider the context when reading and interpreting Scripture.

Many of our participants haven’t had much experience with the Bible. They will learn how to find a Scripture reference. They will also learn how the Old Testament and the New Testament is organized. Words like Gospel, Epistles, canon, Torah, covenant, inerrant and Scripture will be explained to them. They will also learn where the Bible came from.

Questions for all of us to consider:

What words in Scripture, texts, or writings have helped you grow in faith, understand the truth, or become a better person?

What is your favorite Bible verse or story?

Why is it meaningful to you?

Who could you share this insight with?

Would you consider being a part of our weekly Bible study at St. Mary?

May the Spirit of God inspire you and bless the work of your hands.

Yours in Christ,

Christine Wagberg
