From Fr. Paul 4-23-2017
“Behold, I am making all things new.”
These words handed down to us in the Book of Revelation were particularly fitting as we celebrated the Paschal Mystery – the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ last week. At the Easter Vigil, we blessed a new fire to light the Easter Candle, the symbol of the light of Christ. We blessed new baptismal waters and Kate, Joshua, Charlie, Marlena, Alan, and Nicole passed through these saving waters in the Sacrament of Baptism. Jordan, Eric, Elisabeth, Lisa, Alison and Sarah made their profession of faith, confessing their belief in all the Catholic Church teaches and believes. Newly consecrated Chrism oil was used to seal all twelve in the Sacrament of Confirmation and they received the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ in the Sacred Banquet of the Eucharist. They were reminded that these sacraments are given for their salvation and for equipping them to be authentic Christian witnesses.
All of us renewed our baptismal promises and were sprinkled with the new baptismal waters, reminding us of our call to be a witness for Jesus Christ in this world, resolving to keep ourselves unstained by sin until we stand before Christ.
It was truly a feast in which we thank God for the greatest gift He gave us: the life of His Son Jesus Christ who died for us and was raised so that we might have the promise of eternal life if we accept His teachings.
I want to especially thank those who decorated our church, all the musicians and choirs, our music director, those who prepared our candidates and elect who entered the Church, and all who assisted in any way to celebrate the greatest feast day of our Church year.
