This Third Sunday of Advent gives us the Rose colored candle and vestments (yes, some call them pink!) as we begin to look towards the end of the season of waiting and move closer to the light of the world coming to be with us!

With the days before Christmas growing shorter, we may be more mindful than usual about the ways in which we are unprepared for the coming of the Lord. Sometimes it is helpful to recognize our shortcomings, but it can also be destructive. We cannot imitate the perfect faith of Mary, and it is too late to be sinless. A few people might even ponder whether we should even try.

However if we consider this quote from scripture; “May the God of peace make you perfectly holy and may you entirely, spirit, soul, and body, be preserved blameless for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ” as one written by St Paul who once persecuted the church before becoming a follower of Jesus, we can remind ourselves that if he can become a Saint, it is worth it for each and every one of us to begin again, every day!

In Christ. Deacon Tom
