"Do not be troubled. Trust in Me.” (John 14:1)

Greetings Everyone,

Below are some upcoming Christian Service volunteer opportunities or events that may be of interest to you. If you can spare an hour or two, please think about being of service to your neighbor. We are always looking for volunteers to help us out in Christian Service. Please give me a call at the parish office on extension 205 or email me: I would love to talk to you.

SENIOR SING ALONG & LUNCH: The Christian Service commission and our Music Director, Paula, invite you to our annual Senior Sing Along and Lunch on Wednesday June 7 from 12 noon to 2pm in our Fellowship Center. Admission is free. Just bring your voices. Please RSVP no later than June 1 by calling me at 248-547-1818 ext. 205 or email

OCTOBER 14 - MERCY IN ACTION DAY (MIA): We had our first planning meeting earlier this month. It was very well attended by both new and seasoned members of this committee. Many ideas for improvement were suggested. If you were unable to attend but still are interested in helping plan, organize or work on the MIA planning team, you are welcome to attend our next meeting. Perhaps you have some ideas you would like to suggest or some talents to share so this year’s events are even better than last year. Please call me at the parish office for more information.

WASHCLOTH & BATH TOWEL DRIVE: The Women for Christ will be collecting new and used washcloths and bath towels (24” x 50”) in September. These will be used on the Mercy in Action Day as one of our projects for helping the homeless. Bars of soap will be wrapped with a washcloth and placed in a plastic baggie. A separate project involves rolling a few hygiene products inside a bath towel for use in our Warming Shelter. If you cannot wait until September, feel free to drop off washcloths and bath towels anytime at the Parish Office to my attention. If you have any questions or want additional information related to MIA, please give me a call at the parish office on extension 205.

FOOD PANTRY: Our food pantry shelves continue to be a little empty. We are in desperate need of the following non-perishable food items:

  • Canned meats such as chicken, turkey, ham, etc.
  • Hearty soups with meat such as vegetable beef, chicken rice, etc.
  • Canned Chili with and without beans
  • Fruit cups such as fruit cocktail, pears, peaches
  • Boxes of cold cereal such as Cheerios, Rice Krispies, Frosted Flakes, etc.
  • Canned meat ravioli, spaghetti & meatballs, lasagna with meat
  • Quart or two liter size juice such as cranberry, grape, apple, orange, etc.
  • Snack crackers and protein bars in any flavor

Our food pantry can accommodate some perishables in limited quantity such as yogurt, cheese slices, and oranges.

CLOTHES CLOSET: Our clothes closet has begun shifting its wardrobe over to lighter weight clothing for day time wear. We still have a need for some heavier weight items for night time wear. The following items are urgently needed:

  • Men’s shoes sizes 10 to 13;
  • Men’s and women’s jeans
  • Clean white socks
  • New men’s and women’s underwear especially sizes Medium and Large.

Occasionally we see men and women who are moving into an apartment for the first time perhaps in many years. We would like to provide them with a few basic kitchenware items to help get them started. So if you have used but still working, clean housewares, we will accept them on a limited basis. Please call me on extension 205 before dropping them off.

Blessings to all,

George Krinke, your Christian Service Coordinator
