Christian Service Bulletin 4-16-2017

“The Lord is my light and my salvation,” (Psalms 27:1).

Greetings Everyone,

Happy Easter! Today is a wonderful day! Truly a day that God has made. Because Jesus has conquered death He not only lives but is always at our sides to lead and guide us. Let us rejoice and be glad. Let us try to do one thing today to “declare the works of the Lord” (Psalm 118:17) either by my actions or my words.

I have said this many times before but it is still true. We are always looking for volunteers to help us out in Christian Service. If you would like to volunteer, now or in the future, please give me a call at the parish office on extension 205 or email me: I would love to talk to you.

EASTER GIFTS – JAIL OUTREACH MINISTRY: Thank you for all of the wonderful Easter basket gifts and food for the families supported by the Jail Outreach Ministry in Pontiac. These are the families of men and women incarcerated in the Oakland County Jail who are struggling to make ends meet for various reasons. Our Christian Service Commission used your Easter egg gifts to assemble 75 Easter baskets for adults, teens, elementary and pre-school children. And, thanks to the generosity of several parish families we provided a ham, produce, dairy and grocery items that could be used to prepare Easter breakfast and dinner for eight families of the incarcerated that St. Mary Christian Service adopted. I am sure that your generosity was very much appreciated and gave those who received, a blessing of hope knowing that someone cared about them. Please remember the incarcerated and their families in your prayers today.

DEMENTIA WORKSHOP: Dementia Communication Skills for Everyone Presentation will be hosted here in the St. Mary Fellowship Center, April 26 from 7-8:30pm. St. Anne’s Mead trained staff will demonstrate simple skills that all of us can use to communicate successfully with someone experiencing memory loss at any level. Admission is free. However seating is limited, so be sure to make a reservation by calling me at the parish office on extension 205 to reserve a seat by April 24. Seats are filling up. Thank you to everyone who has already RSVP’d.

OPERATION LAYETTE: The Women for Christ will be collecting new baby clothes, disposable diapers, wipes, blankets, and layette items on the weekend of April 29-30, after all Masses. Please watch for more details.

SAVE THE DATE - OCTOBER 14 - MERCY IN ACTION DAY: ”It was amazing how everyone came together to help others in need.” Perhaps you remember interacting with other parishes and our own parishioners last October and how good it made you feel that day. Perhaps you have some ideas about how our Mercy in Action Day this year could be improved. We are looking for a few volunteers to help us with the planning. We will begin working on this great event after Easter. If you are interested in helping us make this day really great, please give me a call at the parish office on extension 205.

Blessings to all,

George Krinke, your Christian Service Coordinator
